Seismic Assessment of a Single-Column Elevated Station Structure

Single-column elevated station structures are irregular with long-span cantilever beams and individual pier columns in the transverse section. The uneven mass stiffness horizontal vertical planes necessitate research on seismic performance of these structures. This study performed a nonlinear response-history analysis (NRHA) single-column structure using finite element program MSC.MARC analysed its under different intensities. stress states primary components were evaluated, effect earthquake motion was considered. torsional behavior caused by both directions should be considered, energy dissipation measures taken to reduce internal force deformation bottom-pier second-floor process designation improve structure. A bidirectional pushover (BPA) applied. load amplification factor adjusted optimize BPA results. results modified similar those NRHA, indicating computational reliability BPA. method accurate, applicative, efficient. can efficiency compared NRHA widely applied structural design for practical engineering applications.
